“HKPM Showtime Carnival” | Ancient Dunhuang Musical Instrument Family Workshop

26.11.2023
4:30 pm–5:30 pm
Magnus Hall

Make your own ancient Dunhuang musical instrument!

This family workshop will be hosted by musicians from the Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble, who will introduce the musical instruments, colours, and patterns found in Dunhuang murals. You and your little ones will create your own instruments and embark on a fun musical journey to the ancient city!

In this workshop, children will:

  • familiarise themselves with the musical instruments, colours, and patterns depicted in the Dunhuang murals;
  • create their own musical instruments with various materials, getting to know more about the structures and characteristics of the instruments; and
  • decorate the handmade instruments with the patterns and colours characteristic of Dunhuang murals.

Suitable for families with children aged 5–12. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. No additional registration is needed for the accompanying adult. Each pair of participants (one child and one adult) will receive one set of materials.
