The Hong Kong Palace Museum occupies some 13,000 square metres with a total floor area of about 30,000 square metres and exhibition space of 7,800 square metres.
It provides barrier-free facilities and nursery rooms with ample rest areas both inside and outside, as well as an array of amenities including an auditorium, learning spaces, a gift shop, and dining areas. It is easily accessible by MTR, bus, taxi or private car.
Three atriums will connect the different floors of the museum vertically, referencing the horizontal spatial configuration of the Forbidden City along its central axis.
View VRFrom the atriums visitors can enjoy vistas of the Entrance Plaza, the Hong Kong Island skyline, and Lantau Island, and appreciate the harmony between the museum building and its surroundings. Inspired by the distinctive silhouette of Chinese roof tiles, the benches located in the atrium are crafted from Chinese oak into two curved tile-like pieces. They are part of the public space design collection at the Hong Kong Palace Museum and are named "Eternal Links".
