Dr Louis Ng

Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum

Dr Louis Ng was appointed the first Director of Hong Kong Palace Museum in August 2019, leading the construction of the new museum for its official opening on 3 July 2022. He is a seasoned museum professional, arts administrator and historian with over 33 years of experience in arts administration and museum management.  Previously he was involved in the planning of many new museum projects in Hong Kong including Hong Kong Coastal Defence Museum, Hong Kong Museum of History, Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre and Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum. Prior to joining the Hong Kong Palace Museum, he was Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Hong Kong SAR Government, overseeing the operations and programmes of public museums, performing arts venues and public libraries. A historian by training, he earned his PhD from Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr Daisy Yiyou Wang, PhD

Deputy Director, Hong Kong Palace Museum (Curatorial, Collection and Programming)

Dr Daisy Yiyou Wang is responsible for the Hong Kong Palace Museum’s curation, research, exhibition management, collection, conservation, publication, design, and learning programmes. Under the leadership of Dr Louis Ng and Dr Wang, the Museum team has successfully collaborated with the Palace Museum to ensure the timely and successful delivery of twelve high-quality exhibitions featuring priceless treasures in collaboration with the Palace Museum and other organisations. A specialist of the history of art collecting, Ming lacquer, and Qing imperial portraiture and textile, Dr Wang has published internationally and received numerous awards, including a Getty Museum Leadership Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, and a Smithsonian Scholarly Studies Award. Dr Wang co-curated the ground-breaking exhibition Empresses of China’s Forbidden City, which was named the “Most Influential International Exhibition from Chinese Museums” in 2019 and the “Best Thematic/Historical Show” in 2018 by the Boston Globe. She co-edited this exhibition’s catalogue, which received the Smithsonian Secretary’s Research Prize. A leader in international museum professional exchange, she has served as the founding Chair of the American Alliance of Museum’s China Program.

Mr Brian Yuen

Deputy Director, Hong Kong Palace Museum (Museum Operations)

Mr Brian Yuen is responsible for all commercial and operational activities of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, including retail, business planning, venue sales, partnership development, visitor services, venue operations, digital development and board management. Brian has extensive experience in tourism, hospitality, and commercial real estate. He started his career at Cathay Pacific where he held different roles, including sales, marketing, revenue management, inflight services, partnership development, and country management. Prior to joining the Museum, Brian was with Hang Lung Properties where he held management positions in both leasing and service delivery. Throughout his career Brian has worked in countries across Asia, North America, and the Middle East. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the University of New South Wales.
