HKPM Volunteer Programme

Palace Academy

The new round of recruitment for the Hong Kong Palace Museum Volunteer Programme is now open for applications. If you are passionate about Chinese and world arts and cultures, and a supporter of the HKPM, we warmly welcome your application.

As an HKPM volunteer, you will support a wide range of museum work, including learning programmes, library operation, and visitor services. To enhance your skills and knowledge, we will provide a variety of professional training opportunities focusing on Chinese and world arts and cultures, Palace Museum culture, and museum operations.

Please submit your application form online by 22 July 2025 at 4pm. We look forward to your participation!

Scope of Work

  • Learning Programmes: Facilitate and support the operations of learning programmes and events organised by the Museum
  • Library Operation: Assist in the operation of the museum library, include cataloguing
  • Visitor Services: Support in greeting and orienting visitors, conducting surveys and audience research

 

Recruitment Criteria

Eligible applicants must:

  • Hold a valid Hong Kong Identity Card and be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have a strong interest in Chinese and world arts and cultures, as well as museum operations;
  • Be fluent in Cantonese, with adequate proficiency in Putonghua and English
  • Be an effective communicator with a passion for interacting with people of different ages and backgrounds
  • Be available to commit to at least 3 service sessions (4 hours each) each month

Priority will be given to applicants with relevant experience or education background.

 

Remarks

  • This round of recruitment is mainly for applicants who are interested in joining the Hong Kong Palace Museum Volunteer Programme. If you are interested in becoming a docent in the Museum, please stay tuned for the details for recruitment of the Docent Programme on the HKPM website instead.
  • First round of shortlisted applicants will be notified by email and invited to submit a short video for the second round of selection. As capacity is limited, in case you do not receive said email by 31 August, please stay tuned for our next round of volunteer recruitment.

HKPM Docent Programme

Docent

The Hong Kong Palace Museum Docents are an important bridge between visitors and the exhibitions. Through various forms of guided tours and talks, they engage with visitors from diverse backgrounds, including school and community groups, as well as members of the general public. To equip docents for this important task, the Hong Kong Palace Museum provides comprehensive professional training focusing on the museum’s thematic and special exhibitions, Chinese art and culture, Palace Museum culture, and museum operations.

Recruitment of new members will begin as required. Further details will be provided on this page in due course.
