Yuanming yuan was a splendid Qing dynasty imperial garden that represented the pinnacle of Chinese landscape art. Inspired by “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: YUAN MING YUAN—Art and Culture of an Imperial Garden-Palace” exhibition, this workshop invites you on a captivating journey to explore the rich traditions of Chinese landscaping. Delve into the enchanting world of water, mountains, pavilions, and bridges.

Join us to design your own unique garden. Unleash your creativity and gardening talents while celebrating the timeless beauty of Yuanming yuan!

This workshop includes:

  • An introduction to the architectural characteristics of the Chinese imperial garden, Yuanming yuan.
  • A hands-on session to create and take home your own miniature Chinese garden.

Please note:

  • Sharp tools will be used during the workshop.
  • Requiring no prior experience, this programme is suitable for children aged 5–12. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. No additional registration is needed for the accompanying adult. Each child will receive one set of materials and take away a piece of artwork.

Requiring no prior experience, this activity is suitable for children aged 5–12. Participants below the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. No additional registration is needed for the accompanying adult. Each group shall not exceed two people, who will receive one set of materials and take home one artwork.

  • Please enter the Museum through the Palace Academy (LG/F). For any changes to the arrangement, please refer to the information in the Museum on the day of the event.
  • Please arrive at the venue 15 minutes before the workshop begins for registration and admission.
