Chinese Cultural Experience Programme| “The Eight Banners and Military of the Qing Dynasty” Workshop

This workshop will take participants on a journey to understand the Eight Banners system of the Qing dynasty. Students will delve into its historical and cultural background through diverse interactive learning activities.

What students will get from this workshop:

  • Explore history: Gain an understanding of the establishment and development of the Eight Banners system.
  • Interactive learning: Uncover Eight Banners army from different perspectives through missions.
  • Handcraft experience: Reveal the components and features of the Eight banner soldiers’ martial attire by creating fabric dolls.

Participants will also be offered free admission to all galleries (except temporarily closed ones) on the same day as the event. Please note that quota is limited, and registration will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

Age Limit

The workshop is recommended for P.4 to S.6 students.

Remarks
  • The event is only available for Hong Kong local school groups.
  • Each school may register for a maximum of 1 workshop session. Spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.
  • The sponsorship quota for this programme is limited to 40 students per school, with a minimum of 20 participants required per session.
  • The Museum will contact successful applicants within 14 working days to confirm the date and time of the visit. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email with details of the workshop.
  • Once the workshop session is confirmed, no changes or withdrawals will be accepted.
  • Please enter the Museum through the Palace Academy (LG/F). For any changes to the arrangement, please refer to the information in the Museum on the day of the event.
  • Please arrive at the venue 15 minutes  before the workshop begins for registration and admission.
  • Please ensure there are sufficient teachers to accompany your students at the Museum. The recommended teacher-to-student ratio for primary and secondary school visits is 1:15.
  • If any school fails to attend without justification, it may affect its future opportunities to participate in educational activities organized by the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
  • Image consent: We may photograph, film, videotape, record or otherwise reproduce the image and voice of any visitor who enters the Museum and use the same for educational, media, or editorial purposes and may be used on the website, social media platforms, in publications, or as promotional materials used by the Museum and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.
