Conservation and Historic Preservation Workshop (Objects) - Inlay

Are you curious about how museum objects are conserved? In this workshop, conservation experts will share their experiences and practices at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. HKPM’s Conservator Jessie Liang, Assistant Conservator Vivien Leung as well as guest metal artist Ng Sze Yu will help you understand and experience the applications of various inlay techniques.

  • Learn about behind-the-scenes conservation for the exhibition “Radiance: Ancient Gold from the Hong Kong Palace Museum Collection” through a sharing session with the conservation team at the Hong Kong Palace Museum
  • Watch a demonstration of reversible inlay technique and try it yourself
  • Join in a hands-on workshop to inlay a tailor-made object, guided by the artist

Don’t miss this exciting taster of object conservation! You will make a small ornament to take home as a souvenir.

  • With the workshop ticket, each participant can also access our thematic exhibitions (Galleries 1 to 6) on the event day.
  • Please enter the Museum through the Palace Academy (LG/F). For any changes to the arrangement, please refer to the information in the Museum on the day of the event.
  • Please arrive at the venue 20 minutes before the workshop begins for registration and admission.
