Jessie Jiafang Liang

Conservator (Objects) of the Hong Kong Palace Museum

Jessie Jiafang Liang has been leading the conservation of 3D objects at the Hong Kong Palace Museum since its grand opening, including preventive and exhibition conservation for the Museum’s grand opening and two special exhibitions. She is currently focusing on the conservation and technical study of the Mengdiexuan gold collection.

Ms Liang graduated from the UCLA/Getty Conservation Program, specialising in the conservation of archaeological ceramics, metals, and polychrome Chinese artefacts. She has served at the National Museum of Asian Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology in collaboration with the German Romanticism Museum and the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation of the University of Melbourne, and the University of Hong Kong. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals. She made significant contributions to the Shigushan conservation and archaeological project, which won the third prize of the 2016 National Field Archaeology Awards. She was also a recipient of the UCLA/Getty conservation fellowship and Samuel H. Kress Foundation conservation fellowship.

Vivien Leung

Assistant Conservator of the Hong Kong Palace Museum

Vivien Leung is Assistant Conservator at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. She received her master’s degree in the conservation of archaeological and museum objects from Durham University. She specialises in object conservation, which includes both organic and inorganic materials.

Prior to her studies, she worked at the Records and Heritage Office of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, where she conserved historical book and paper records. During her time in the United Kingdom, she spent nine months as an intern with the Brighton and Hove Museums.

Sandy Tam

Assistant Conservator of the Hong Kong Palace Museum

Sandy Tam began her career path as a conservator by working in public museums in Hong Kong after completing her master’s degree in conservation at the University of Hong Kong. Having undertaken several years’ training at local museums, she has practical knowledge and research experience in preserving oil paintings and metals. Ms Tam is currently working for the 3D object team at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, specialising in exhibition conservation, preventive conservation, and conservation treatments for the Museum’s collections, and more.

Ng Sze Yu

Ng Sze Yu graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University with a BA in visual arts and began her career with an apprenticeship in traditional jewellery. In 2018, she took part in the designer-in-residency programme at the Hong Kong jewellery-making company Loupe and set up her own brand and studio, Jewellers’ Tavern, at the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC).
