The Palace Museum, often known as the Forbidden City, was established in 1925. Ninety-seven years later, the Hong Kong Palace Museum opens to the public with a suite of seven spectacular opening exhibitions featuring treasures from the Forbidden City. Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Palace Museum, these scholarly yet accessible exhibitions explore new ways of looking at palace art and Chinese culture.
Two distinguished scholars of Palace art and culture Ren Wanping, Deputy Director of the Palace Museum and Daisy Yiyou Wang, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum will be in lively conversation to share insights on new practices in curation, research, and publishing, as well the future of the study and presentation of palace art, culture, and history at the Palace Museum. Topics include curatorial methodology, innovation, cultural exchange, and the training of museum professionals.
This talk is the second session of the Tradition and Innovation: New Perspectives on the Palace Museum and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, part of the HKPM Opening Exhibition Talk Series.
