Qi Haonan

Qi Haonan, a Research Fellow at the Palace Museum and Section Chief of the clock restoration team in the Department of Conservation. He is a fourth-generation inheritor of China’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage in ancient timepiece restoration and a representative inheritor of such skills in Dongcheng District, Beijing. He serves as a council member of the China Cultural Relics Academy, as well as the Vice President and Secretary-General of its horology committee. He is also the Executive Vice President of the Macau Horologe Association.

With twenty years of experience in restoring antique timepieces, Qi has worked on over a hundred pieces and published numerous professional articles. He has authored six books: Masters in the Forbidden City: British Timepieces Repaired, Masters in the Forbidden City: Swiss Timepieces Repaired, Masters in the Forbidden City: Guangzhou Timepieces Repaired, Masters in the Forbidden City: Chengde Mountain Resort Timepieces Repaired, Masters in the Forbidden City: Summer Palace Timepieces Repaired and I Repair Clocks and Watches in the Palace Museum: Unveiling the Self-striking Clock in the Rosewood Building.

Qu Tingting

Qu Tingting holds a master’s degree. As an Associate Research Fellow at the Palace Museum and graduate advisor at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, she has dedicated over a decade to the restoration and conservation of textile cultural relics, overseeing the restoration of over a hundred textile artifacts in the Palace Museum’s collection. She has participated in the restoration and development of restoration plans for textile artifacts in multiple museums, also contributed to several sub-projects under the National Key R&D Program and Palace Museum research initiatives, and led the Palace Museum projects, including “Artificial Dyeing and Parameter Research for Materials Used in the Restoration and Reconstruction of Imperial Textile Artifacts”.

Li Lu

Li Lu, holds a master’s degree and is currently a fellow at The Palace Museum. She joined the textile artefacts conservation team in 2013. With twelve years of experience in historical textile conservation, Li has worked on various artefacts, including upholsteries, valances, ceremonial armaments, and inner eave decorative textiles. She also contributed to revising the museum’s standard for the “Disease Classification and Diagram of The Palace Museum Collection Textile Collections”. Additionally, she participated in the research project on the “Back Cushions, Floor Cushions and Armrest Pillow-Type Textile Artefacts of the Hall of Mental Cultivation”.

Li Yanyi

Li Yanyi holds a master’s degree in fine arts from the Academy of Arts & Design from the Tsinghua University. She joined the Palace Museum’s Painting and Calligraphy Restoration team in 2016, studying under Professor Shan Jiajiu. She is proficient in traditional Chinese mounting and restoration techniques for core formats, including hanging scrolls, handscrolls and album leaves. Her research focuses on colour filling and retouching, common restoration materials, and related theories. She has completed over 20 pieces of rescue restorations, conducted minor repairing and preservation for more than 10 works, and had published 7 academic papers.

Wang Xinyi

Wang Xinyi holds a master’s degree of arts from Tsinghua University and a master’s degree of Science in Interior and Spatial Design from Politecnico di Milano. She is a fellow of the calligraphy and painting conservation team in the Department of Conservation at the Palace Museum.

Her primary research focuses on the mounting and restoration of ancient paintings and calligraphy. She has participated in the conservation of over 30 sets of cultural relics in the museum’s collection. Additionally, she is a participant in the Palace Museum’s Elite Interdisciplinary Training Program, where she utilises experimental instruments for material identification and analytical methods to conduct research on mounting materials for paintings and calligraphy. She has published a paper titled “Research on the Conservation of the Tieluo (affixed hanging) of Luo Lun’s Memorial Scroll in Ming Dynasty by Wu Shijian from the Hall of Mental Cultivation in the Palace Museum”.
