The talk will feature five experts from the Palace Museum’s Department of Conservation, each sharing their research and techniques in diverse fields of artefact restoration:

  1. Restoration Techniques of Ancient Timepieces in the Palace Museum by Qi Haonan, Research Fellow and Section Chief, Department of Conservation
  2. Blue Woolen Embroidered Kang-bed Rug with Clouds and Bats: Conservation Research on the Original Kang-bed Rug from the Hall of Mental Cultivation in the Forbidden City by Qu Tingting, Associate Research Fellow, Department of Conservation
  3. Conservation of a Hanging Panel with Longevity Character in Silk Tapestry by Li Lu, Fellow, Department of Conservation
  4. Traditional Inheritance and Modern Practice of Colour Filling Techniques for Ancient Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings: A Case Study of the Restoration of Jiang Maode's Landscape Tieluo (affixed hanging) by Li Yanyi, Associate Research Fellow, Department of Conservation
  5. Scientific Conservation and Restoration of Decorative Calligraphy and Painting Artifacts from the Imperial Interior of the Qing Court by Wang Xinyi, Fellow, Department of Conservation

This talk is in line with the Hong Kong Palace Museum Conservator-in-Residence Programme 2025–2026, a government-funded programme that aims to raise public awareness of innovative strategies for the conservation and management of artefacts.
