Imperial Blue and White Ceramic Workshop (Family Session) (Monthly Flower Cups)

The Hong Kong Palace Museum’s blue and white ceramics family workshop returns with great honour!

This Set of Twelve Monthly Flower Cups was a collection by the emperor. It came from the Kangxi period (1662-1722) of the Qing dynasty and was made by Imperial Kilns, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province. It is now on display in the soon-closing Gallery 3, “Clay to Treasure: Ceramics from the Palace Museum Collection”. The exhibit carefully depicts the representative plant of each month, combining the four seasons with daily utensils. This workshop is inspired by the lotus flower cup of June. We are thrilled to invite you and your family to join us as little craftsmen from Imperial Kilns. Together you will learn to unleash your creativity and take home your own little treasure.

This workshop includes:

  • An introduction to ceramics and the techniques involved.
  • A demonstration of how ceramics are glazed.
  • A hands-on session to create your own ceramic work (1 piece).

Please note:

      • The workshop is open to participants of all skill levels. No prior experience is required.
      • Suitable for families with children aged 5–12. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. No additional ticket is needed for the accompanying adult. Each pair of participants (one child and one adult) will receive one set of tools and take home one piece of artwork.
      • Firing of your ceramics will be arranged. Please collect your work at the Palace Academy three weeks after the workshop. Further details will be announced during the class.
      • Exhibition ticket arrangement: This registration is for the captioned programme only. To visit our exhibitions, please click here.
