Special Exhibition “Ancient Egypt Unveiled” Family Workshop Series

Ancient Egyptian pharaohs wore jewellery and amulets for display, power, and protection. Participants will learn about the origins and development of ancient Egyptian ornaments, and to unleash their creativity by making a one-of-a-kind necklace with their own animal amulets.

 

What participants will get from this special workshop:

  • Hands-on Craft Experience: Create a one-of-a-kind ancient Egyptian-inspired necklace with a personalised animal amulet with stones, jewels and clay.
  • Themed Exhibition Tour: Through a guided tour of the blockbuster exhibition, learn about the stories and aesthetics behind the creation of animal-themed ornaments, and explore the widely worshipped animal deities.
  • Dress up as an Ancient Egyptian: Children and adult participants alike are welcome to dress up in their favourite Egyptian-style costumes to the activity.

 

Please note:

  • This workshop is suitable for children aged 6 to 11. Each group is up to two people, consisting of a child and an accompanying adult. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. No additional registration is needed for the accompanying adult. Each child will receive one set of materials and take home one artwork.
  • The workshop is open to participants of all skill levels. No prior artmaking experience is required.
  • Sharp tools will be used during the workshop to reinforce the artwork.
  • The organiser reserves the right to cancel the event in case of an insufficient number of participants. Ticket fee will be refunded in full in accordance with the procedures.

 

This workshop accompanies the special exhibition “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums”, which is on view in Gallery 9 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 20 November 2025 to 31 August 2026. The exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt. It is proudly supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong), the Museum’s strategic partner, and Cathay and UnionPay International are the Major Sponsors.

Age limit

This workshop is suitable for children aged 6 to 11. Each group is up to two people, consisting of a child and an accompanying adult. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. No additional registration is needed for the accompanying adult.

Remarks
  • Please enter the Museum through the Palace Academy (LG/F). For any changes to the arrangement, please refer to the information in the Museum on the day of the event.
  • Please arrive at the venue 15 minutes before the workshop begins for registration and admission.
  • Exhibition Ticket Arrangement:
    • Standard ticket HK$790 includes Family Ticket Combo (1 Adult + 1 Child) - “Ancient Egypt Unveiled” for registered adults and children aged 7 to 11. Participants may visit Galleries 1 to 7 & 9 on the day of the event (except those temporarily closed). Children aged 6 or below may enter for free. Both the adult and the child must admit at the same time.
    • HK$495 for “HKPM Friends” and HKPM Patrons (One valid Gallery 9 Special Exhibition admission code per member will be deducted. For participants without a valid membership, an admission ticket to visit Gallery 9 is required).
