Taking the special exhibition “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums” as a starting point, this talk will explore the spread and promotion of Egyptian art history in China with a focus on the Saqqara project in Egypt. Professor LaoZhu will share how to utilise three decades of experiences and methodology gained from compiling the Catalogue of Han Dynasty Paintings to develop a comprehensive digital cultural heritage solution, with application to the Egyptian project.
Additionally, Dr Wang Wenxin, Associate Curator of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, will moderate a conversation with Professor LaoZhu. Together, they will discuss the interaction between ancient Egyptian civilisation and the world.
This talk accompanies the special exhibition “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums”, which is on view in Gallery 9 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 20 November 2025 to 31 August 2026. The exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt.
