The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM or the Museum) is pleased to announce that Bank of China (Hong Kong) (“BOCHK”), the Museum’s strategic partner, won the Award for Arts Sponsorship at the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. The award presentation ceremony of the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Award was held on Tuesday, 10 June 2025.
The award recognises BOCHK for its role as a strategic partner of the HKPM since 2022. Together, BOCHK has joined hands with the Museum in presenting blockbuster exhibitions, performances, and educational activities to engage diverse communities, broaden public understanding of the multifaceted nature of Chinese culture and foster global cultural dialogue. BOCHK’s sponsored projects include the special exhibition Gazing at Sanxingdui – New Archaeological Discoveries in Sichuan in 2023, the special exhibition Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: “The Origins of Chinese Civilisation” in 2024, the HKPM Showtime Carnival and a ticket subsidy programme for disadvantaged groups. These initiatives demonstrate the BOCHK’s commitment to promote Chinese culture, facilitating international exchange, and advancing social inclusion. The award also honours the shared mission of BOCHK and the HKPM to preserve and promote the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture.
Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards recognise distinguished arts practitioners and organisations that have made significant contributions to the development of the arts in Hong Kong.
Dr Louis Ng, Museum Director, HKPM, said, “BOCHK has always been dedicated to promoting the development of Chinese arts and culture. We are truly grateful for the bank’s full-fledged support for the HKPM, which is a clear recognition of our vision and our work to promote the inheritance of Chinese culture to future generations. Thanks to BOCHK’s comprehensive support, the museum has been able to organise high-quality special exhibitions and innovative performing arts programs, fulfilling its commitment to showcasing the richness of traditional Chinese culture. Building on our shared goal, HKPM looks forward to continuing our close long-term partnership with BOCHK to strengthen our efforts to foster cultural exchange between China and global audiences.”
Stephen Chan, Deputy Chief Executive, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, said,“BOCHK is honoured to receive the Award for Arts Sponsorship from HKADC in recognition of our efforts in promoting Chinese culture and fostering social inclusion. From the artefact-rich Gazing at Sanxingdui exhibition to the inclusive participation for disadvantaged groups, and the HKPM Showtime Carnival providing artists with a platform to showcase their talents and gain employment opportunities, BOCHK gives full support and connects communities through arts. In the future, BOCHK will continue to collaborate with various sectors of the society to launch more cultural and artistic activities. These efforts aim to deepen Hong Kong citizens’—especially young people’s—understanding and enthusiasm for Chinese history and culture, while contributing to the promotion of cultural and arts exchanges between China and the rest of the world, telling compelling stories of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong together.”
