During the 18th century, France’s reputation as the world’s fashion capital expanded, leaving a profound impact on other European countries. French fashion houses used fashion dolls to showcase intricate dress designs and hairstyles.

Join us to create a mini-dress on a small-scale mannequin with French draping. From choosing fabric to crafting a crinoline, pattern-cutting, and sewing, you can step into the shoes of a skilful French dressmaker from the 18th century!

This workshop includes:

A brief introduction to western fashion history from the 18th–20th centuries, including the use of crinoline in everyday life and its continued influence on today’s fashion.
A demonstration of French draping by a tailor.
A hands-on session to create your own dress.

Please note:

The workshop is open to all. No prior experience is required.
Sharp tools will be used during the workshop.
The course is divided into two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Participants are required to attend all sessions and should make their own lunch arrangements.
