Chinese Gold Craftsmanship Heritage Education Programme

The “Chinese Gold Craftsmanship Heritage Education Programme” is designed to enhance recognition of the development, history, artistic features and cultural significance of Chinese gold craftsmanship among the younger generation. The programme is organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and supported by Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group as Lead Sponsor.

Throught the themes of goldsmithing, gold artefact design and cultural exchange, the programme offers a series of activities and learning resources designed for students of all age as well as the general public; these include:

  • Masterclasses: Delve into the development of Chinese gold craftsmanship, exploring how contemporary artisans and designers have inherited, improved upon and applied ancient craftsmanship and design techniques in their work.
  • Goldsmithing Workshops: Introduce the fundamental skills of gold craftsmanship, and guide participants in creating their own pieces with innovative reinterpretations of the traditional artistry.
  • Study Tours: Dedicated tours to gold manufacturing industrial parks and cultural institutions in the Mainland to gain insights into the modern gold industry chain and gold craftmanship across eras, as well as to engage with experts in the field.
  • Learning Resources: Educational materials for students of various ages, introducing them to the features of gold craftsmanship and guiding them in appreciating the diverse designs, historical and cultural significance of gold artefacts.
