Chinese Gold Craftsmanship Heritage Education Programme | Golden Reflections: Exploring Traditional Craftsmanship through Contemporary Gold Jewellery and the Museum Collections

Talk

13.09.2026
3:00 pm–4:30 pm
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Palace Museum

How does traditional gold craftsmanship traverse millennia of brilliance to find new life in contemporary gold jewellery design?

Join our two speakers as they explore the cultural significance and contemporary design applications behind Chinese gold craftsmanship, unveiling the timeless allure of gold. Highlighting the Mengdiexuan Collection’s generous donation to our museum of over 1,000 gold and silver objects spanning three millennia, Associate Curator Dr Raphael Wong will share his latest research insights. In addition, Mr Jianfeng Wei, Senior Vice President of the Gold Jewellery Product Management at Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, will share his insights as an expert of the gold industry, guiding us through the ingenious artistry of modern gold jewellery design and taking us on a journey to decode the secrets of traditional gold craftsmanship.

This activity is part of the “Chinese Gold Craftsmanship Heritage Education Programme” organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and supported by Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group as Lead Sponsor.
