“The Golden Quest—Gold Craftsmanship Study Tour to Shunde” will take students to Shunde and explore the traditional techniques of gold craftsmanship and its contemporary innovations. From design, aesthetics, and cultural heritage, students will engage with the gold craftsmanship through multiple perspectives, gaining insight into the rich Chinese culture values. Through observation, hands-on experience, and dialogue, participants will learn how ancient craftsmanship are preserved and evolved today.

What students will get from this study tour:

  • Explore the traditional essence of gold craftsmanship.
  • Appreciate the beauty of exquisite gold artefacts.
  • Experience gold craftsmanship first-hand.

Application is open from now until 9 March 2026. Hong Kong students aged 15 to 24, currently enrolled in local secondary schools (with nomination from their schools) or tertiary institutions are welcome to apply. Participation in the study tour is free of charge.

This activity is part of the “Chinese Gold Craftsmanship Heritage Education Programme” organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and supported by Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group as Lead Sponsor.

Adverse Weather Arrangements

Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal / Typhoon Signal Pre-No. 8 / NO. 8 or above / Class suspension announced by Education Bureau due to inclement weather

    • If the signal is in force within three hours prior to the event starts, or if the Education Bureau has announced class suspension due to inclement weather, the event will be cancelled. Further arrangements will be announced in due course.
    • If the signal is hoisted during the event, participants will be arranged to stay in a safe location until the weather improves and transportation is safe, before departing for Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum reserves the right to reschedule or cancel events.
