HKPM Movies: The Eight Great Crafts – Construction Techniques of the Forbidden City

To complement the new exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: YUAN MING YUAN — Art and Culture of an Imperial Garden-Palace” at Hong Kong Palace Museum, "The Eight Great Crafts" will show audience more about the constructions of Chinese architecture. An eight-episode micro-documentary examines the “eight great crafts” of architecture in ancient China, including earthwork, masonry, scaffolding, carpentry, tilework, plastering and wall painting, polychrome painting, and papering.

Remarks
  • Please enter the Museum through the Palace Academy (LG/F). For any changes to the arrangement, please refer to the information in the Museum on the day of the event..
  • Admission to the venue will begin 15 minutes before the programme starts.
  • Free seating, on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the Auditorium.
  • Registered visitors have to arrive before the programme starts to confirm their place. The Hong Kong Palace Museum reserves the right to release any unconfirmed places to walk-in visitors. A limited number of walk-in slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to visitors.
  • The organiser reserves the right to make changes to the programme without prior notice.
  • Ticketing arrangements: The movie tickets are for the captioned programme only. To visit the exhibitions, please click here to purchase an admission ticket.

  • If hoisted during the event, the event in progress will NOT continue and participants may register for another session.
