HKPM Opening Exhibition Talk Series: The Quest for Originality: Interpreting Traditional and Contemporary Crafts and Design

Through the presentation of a selection from the Palace Museum, the exhibition “The Quest for Originality: Contemporary Design and Traditional Craft in Dialogue”, on display in Gallery 5 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, demonstrates the deep interest in innovation, materiality, and function in design shared by people of the past and today.

A member of the curatorial team and Assistant Curator of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Yau Sum Yin will discuss the curatorial themes of the exhibition and highlight objects of particular interest and significance. Anothermountainman (Stanley Wong), who served as the Artistic Director for the exhibition, will share his thoughts on presenting Chinese crafts, artisans, and designers in Hong Kong today, as well as his role in developing the exhibition’s visual communication strategy.

This talk accompanies the opening exhibition “The Quest for Originality: Contemporary Design and Traditional Craft in Dialogue“ in Gallery 5 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
