“Metallurgy” and “Writing” are often regarded as fundamental elements that define a civilisation. In this talk, Associate Curator Dr Raphael Wong will share the research that underpins the special exhibition, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: “The Origins of Chinese Civilisation”. Joining him will be Dr Adam Craig Schwartz and Dr Peng Peng, who will provide insights into the early history of metallurgy and writing in China. Together, these three scholars will engage in a discussion, exploring the fascinating concepts and development of the Chinese civilisation.
This talk accompanies the special exhibition, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: “The Origins of Chinese Civilisation”, on view in Gallery 8 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 25 September 2024 to 7 February 2025. The exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and Art Exhibitions China, and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong), the Museum’s strategic partner.
