HKPM Special Exhibition Talk Series | The Art of Curating: Journey behind “Wonders of Imperial Carpets”

30.08.2025
2:30 pm–3:30 pm
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Palace Museum

“Wonders of Imperial Carpets: Masterpieces from the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha” is the first major exhibition in Hong Kong featuring the artistic achievements of the Safavid, Mughal, and Ottoman dynasties, and cultural connections between Islamic and Chinese civilisations. This special exhibition presents approximately 100 exquisite works, including carpets, ceramics, metalwork, manuscripts, and jades. Presented by the HKPM exhibition curator, this talk provides a behind-the-scenes look at the process of curating the exhibition, from concept development to presentation to the public.

This talk accompanies the special exhibition “Wonders of Imperial Carpets: Masterpieces from the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha”, which is on view in Gallery 9 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 18 June to 6 October 2025. The exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, presenting around 100 treasures from the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, along with precious objects from the collections of the Palace Museum and the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
