HKPM Talk Series | Case Studies from The Palace Museum’s Conservation Department (Part 2)

The talk will feature four experts from The Palace Museum’s Conservation Department, each sharing their research and techniques in various areas of artefact restoration:

  1. A case study of Imperial waxed paper decoration featuring plum blossoms (meihua yu ban jian) from the Qianlong period (1736–1795), by Lu Wang, Associate Research Fellow, Conservation Department
  2. An appreciation session of niello-inlaid objects from The Palace Museum’s collection, by Suhong Shang, Associate Research Fellow, Conservation Department
  3. A case study on a blue embroidered satin bedspread with phoenix, introducing techniques for dust removal, cleaning, and reconstruction in textile artefacts by Zheng Cui, Associate Research Fellow, Conservation Department
  4. A discussion on the inheritance and scientific development of metal conservation techniques at The Palace Museum by Dazhao Jin, Research Fellow and Deputy of Metal Restoration, Conservation Department

This talk is in line with the Hong Kong Palace Museum Conservator-in-Residence Programme 2024–2025, a government-funded programme that aims to raise public awareness of innovative strategies for the conservation and management of artefacts.
