The horse has been an enduring and beloved theme in Chinese painting for generations, symbolising resilience, agility and nobility.
This workshop draws inspiration from the exhibition “Heavenly Horses: Masterpieces from the Palace Museum”. Under the guidance of the instructor, you and your child will closely appreciate fine horse paintings from different dynasties, learn and practise traditional Chinese painting techniques. By focusing on the horse paintings by Zhang Mu, a famous Lingnan painter from the 17th century, you will learn to appreciate his distinctive style of refined line and light ink, which vividly captures the physiques, demeanour, and personality of horses. You will replicate his classic work Two Horses and create your own ink horse painting.
