Islamic Calligraphy Workshop

Come explore the Islamic culture and art of Islamic calligraphy. Have fun making art!

This is a unique exploration of writing Arabic calligraphy in a style that fuses both the traditional Islamic and Chinese arts. The workshop is led by world-renowned Arabic calligraphy master and researcher, Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang, whose works have been exhibited and collected by international institutions.

What participants will get from this workshop:

  • Explore Islamic Calligraphy: Learn about the art and history of Islamic calligraphy and master basic techniques of writing Arabic.
  • Experience Art at the Intersection of Cultures: Immersed in the fusion of Islamic and Chinese art through writing Islamic calligraphy with a reed pen and traditional Chinese brush.
  • Get Creative: Learn from the calligraphy master and create your personalised Islamic calligraphy artwork.

Please note:

  • The workshop is recommended for participants aged 10 or above.
  • Avoid wearing loose clothing since oil-based ink will be used in the workshop.
  • The workshop is open to participants of all skill levels. No prior experience is required.
  • The organiser reserves the right to cancel the event in case of an insufficient number of participants. Ticket fee will be refunded in full in accordance with the procedures.

This event accompanies the special exhibition “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Treasures of the Mughal Court from the Victoria and Albert Museum” on view in Gallery 8 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 6 August 2025 to 23 February 2026. The exhibition is jointly organised by the V&A and Hong Kong Palace Museum, and is solely sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
