“Magic Carpet Adventure” Stop Motion Animation Family Workshop

03.08.2025
10:30 am–1:00 pm
Merit Hall, Palace Academy

Discover the magical world of stop motion animation with your child! From creating the storyboard to designing the characters, let’s be inspired by the special exhibition “Wonders of Imperial Carpets: Masterpieces from the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha”, and bring the flying carpet adventure to life through animation!

What you and your children will get from this workshop:

  • Explore Islamic Art: Get to know the interesting stories behind the imperial carpets and other treasures. Take a closer look into the culture and artistry of the Islamic world.
  • Get Creative: Design the characters, develop the plot and storyboard, and create your own unique “Magic Carpet Adventure” to share with others!
  • Explore Art and Technology: Learn and experience the entire creative process of stop motion animation, cultivate your child’s interest in STEAM learning and strengthen their understanding of creative technologies.

This event accompanies the special exhibition “Wonders of Imperial Carpets: Masterpieces from the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha”, which will be on view in Gallery 9 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 18 June to 6 October 2025. The exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, presenting around 100 treasures from the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, along with precious objects from the collections of the Palace Museum and the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
