Published by the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums is available in both Traditional Chinese (published in November 2025) and English (expected to publish in December 2025). It examines the political achievements, art, daily life, and religious practices of ancient Egyptian civilisation over a period of 5,000 years and reveals the latest archaeological discoveries from the Saqqara region. The publication features themed articles by historians that delve into the spiritual world of Ancient Egypt from diverse perspectives such as sacred kingship, belief systems, and archaism.
From among the 250 artefacts showcased in the exhibition, forty-one have been selected for an in-depth introduction. Divided into four sections, the publication comprehensively unveils the mysterious and fascinating stories of ancient Egyptian civilisation: “The Land of Pharaohs” traces the concept of kingship, religious belief, and daily life during the era of the pharaohs; “The World of Tutankhamun” and “The Secrets of Saqqara” offer a novel window into the earth-shattering archaeological discoveries of modern Egyptian archaeology; and “Ancient Egypt and the World” explores the cultural exchanges and parallels between Ancient Egypt and other civilisations.
The special exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) of Egypt. The Egyptian artefacts come from the collections of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Hurghada Museum, the Suez Museum, the Luxor Museum of the Ancient Egyptian Art, the Sohag National Museum, the Matrouh Museum, the Kafr El-Sheikh Museum, and the Saqqara archaeological site. It also features objects in the collections of the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The exhibition is proudly supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong), the HKPM’s Strategic Partner, with Cathay and UnionPay International as the Major Sponsors. The exhibition “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums” is on display in Gallery 9 of the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 20 November 2025 to 31 August 2026.
