Discover ancient Egypt in a new light through an evening of exclusive access, photo opportunities, expert talks, music and dance performances, themed refreshments, and bespoke cultural experiences

Drawing more than 550,000 visitors since its opening, the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM or the Museum)’s special exhibition “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums” (“Ancient Egypt Unveiled”) is approaching its final countdown and will conclude on 31 August 2026. As Hong Kong’s largest and most significant exhibition on ancient Egyptian civilisation in recent years, “Ancient Egypt Unveiled” traces nearly 5,000 years of history with an unparallelled collection of treasures from Egypt. With the exhibition approaching its final month, the Museum is rolling out special opening arrangements in response to overwhelming support from local visitors, and Mainland and overseas tourists. For the first time, it will remain open daily throughout the August summer peak, with extended opening hours until 8:00 pm on weekends. Visitors are encouraged to book tickets online early and plan their visit in advance.

Landmark exhibition of 250 ancient Egyptian treasures captivates Hong Kong

Jointly organised by the HKPM and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, “Ancient Egypt Unveiled” is proudly supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong), the Museum’s Strategic Partner, with Cathay and UnionPay International as the Major Sponsors. As a major cultural exchange milestone between Hong Kong and Egypt, this landmark exhibition brings together 250 treasures from seven leading Egyptian museums and recent archaeological discoveries from Saqqara, spanning nearly 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian history. Across four thematic sections, visitors encounter over 60 magnificent statues of pharaohs and deities, painted and inscribed stone stelae, eight animal mummies, seven exquisitely painted anthropoid coffins, mummy masks, glittering gold and gemstone-encrusted royal jewellery pieces, and everyday objects*. This exhibition offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity for visitors to encounter one of the world’s greatest civilisations firsthand, without travelling to Egypt.

* All loaned ancient Egyptian artefacts are the inalienable property of the Arab Republic of Egypt and are presented on temporary loan by the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt.
