1.1 The Hong Kong Palace Museum ("HKPM") Membership Scheme is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
1.2 Memberships are classified into the following types, each with different annual fee.
1.2.1 HKPM Friends - Individual (Single & Dual)
1.2.2 HKPM Friends - Youth
1.2.3 HKPM Friends - Family
1.2.4 HKPM Friends - Seniors
1.2.5 HKPM Patron (Single & Dual)
1.3 Applicants must present a valid identification document or full-time student card to purchase HKPM Friends - Youth Membership or the youth member under the Family Membership, or present a valid identification document for verification during their first visit to the Museum.
1.4 The guardian of a Child Member must present a school handbook, student card, birth certificate, or other identification document of the Child Member for verification during their first visit to the Museum.
1.5 Applicants must pay the full membership fee for HKPM Friends if the supporting document for other membership types cannot be provided.
1.6 Membership fees are non-refundable.
1.7 Memberships are non-transferable and shall only be used by members. Designated HKPM staff shall be entitled to check the valid identification documents of members for verification purposes.
1.8 If the membership card is lost, stolen, or damaged, the Member must report this to HKPM immediately. A fee of HK$30 (per replacement) will be charged for the replacement of any lost, stolen or damaged membership cards.
2.1 Members may upgrade their membership to a Patron membership, or apply for a different membership type of a higher value, at the HKPM’s customer service counter upon payment of the full fee of the new membership. The fee paid for the old membership will be refunded to the Member on a pro-rata basis within 8 weeks of the date of upgrade.
2.2 Members cannot downgrade their membership.
2.3 The upgraded membership will be valid for 12 months from the date of upgrade.
2.4 Membership upgrades are not available to Child Members, Youth Members and Seniors Members.
2.5 Unredeemed benefits from the old membership will be forfeited and a new set of yearly benefits will be granted for the upgraded membership.
2.6 A new membership card will be sent to the Member's registered address in about 14 working days of the date of upgrade, and the old membership card will be deactivated and cancelled.
3.1 Members must present their own membership card for admission to the Museum and to enjoy benefits or offers.
3.2 Members must observe all house rules and regulations of HKPM, which may be updated from time to time.
3.3 Unless otherwise stipulated, all bookings for exhibitions, events, programmes, or other Member benefits or offers shall be made available to Members on a first-come, first-served basis.
3.4 HKPM reserves the right to amend, suspend, or terminate any benefit or offer at any time without prior notice and without any refund or compensation.
3.5 Individual exhibitions, events, programmes, benefits, or offers are subject to specific terms and conditions.
3.6 Discount offers are non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash, and cannot be used in conjunction with other promotional offers.
3.7 Entry to Special Exhibitions
3.7.1 Members must present their own membership card at the entrance checking point. Members must present their Museum Admission Voucher (“voucher”) within the voucher validity period to enter special exhibitions.
3.7.2 Each voucher is valid for one person’s entry to special exhibitions and can be used only once.
3.7.3 Vouchers are non-transferable (except Patron) and non-exchangeable. Expired, damaged, modified, defaced, or photocopied vouchers will not be accepted. No replacement will be given for lost vouchers.
3.7.4 Use of the voucher is subject to the terms and conditions printed on the voucher.
4.1 HKPM reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions anytime without prior notice and without providing any reason. Updated terms and conditions will be provided on the HKPM website. All Members shall be bound by the latest terms and conditions.
4.2 HKPM has the absolute discretion on matters in relation to the approval of memberships, event bookings, programmes, offers, or benefits.
4.3 In case of any dispute, the decision of HKPM shall be final.
4.4 In the event of any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions of these terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.
4.5 These terms and conditions constitute an agreement between HKPM and each Member respectively. A person who is not a party to this agreement shall not have any rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623) to enforce any term of this agreement.
4.6 These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.
